About Brooklands Juniors

Our vision is based on inclusivity and opportunity for everyone, ensuring that all children have the change to learn how to play hockey in a family-friendly and supportive environment. We aim to ensure that all children can develop and play competitively as they progress through the club.

Our inclusive Sunday morning sessions are split into the approximate age groups of Under 6, Under 8 & Under 11, but we also take ability & experience of hockey into consideration when deciding on which group is best for your child.

The main aim of our Sunday morning sessions is FUN, whilst teaching the youngsters the basic skills & understanding of hockey, & providing an environment for them to take part in physical activity.

As the children progress, we try to provide opportunity to all children to be involved in matches, at the right time for them & their development. We always make a match play environment fun & a positive experience.  We encourage children to play in different positions, & some may even want to experience putting the full goalkeeper kit on.

In the Under 10/11 age groups, there is competitive 7-a-side hockey, both mixed & boys/girls teams. This is an opportunity for players to show their skills against others clubs, but again we always try to enhance a positive experience for all the children.

Minis

The Minis section is for our youngest hockey stars.

We are happy for those as young as 3 or 4 to join our Sunday morning sessions, and will coach children up to age 10 or 11.

Our minis team is aimed at youngest group of children (4 years old upwards) who are keen to learn and try a new sport.

We provide weekly coaching sessions for our youngest players to play hockey in a supportive environment and also hold mini-tournaments during the season.

Each training session is run with younger players needs in mind, and tuition is structured around fun-based activities and games which teach the basics of hockey.

Sessions for the minis are held on Sunday mornings from 10am - 11am.

Training sessions run between September and April (coinciding with the hockey winter season)
